Two Heads Made up of Turning Gears

Four B.C. public sector pension plans are introducing a new plan-specific curriculum to educate trustees, which they say will address the gap in plan-specific information trustees typically receive through external education.

The curriculum, developed by the College Pension Plan, the Municipal Pension Plan, the Public Service Pension Plan and the Teachers’ Pension Plan, will be delivered both online and in-person, and will cover topics such as the legal aspects of pensions, funding risks and governance, reports Benefits Canada.

Helen McArthur, executive director of the Public Service Pension Plan and the Teachers’ Pension Plan, told the news outlet that the external course content would be relevant to Canadian pension plans.
