BCFSA Information Security Guideline Comes in to Effect September 30th, 2022

The British Columbia Financial Services Authority’s (BCFSA) Information Security Guideline, which provides an information security incident reporting template, comes into effect on September 30, 2022.
The guideline outlines the regulator’s expectations for provincially regulated financial institutions, including pension plan administrators, to report material information security incidents to BCFSA.
BCFSA says the guideline provides pension plan administrators with the flexibility to implement the expectations in a risk-based and proportionate manner given the differences in nature, scope, complexity, systemic importance and risk profile of respective institutions.
