BCFSA seeks input on draft of revised Information Security Guideline for B.C. Pension Plan Administrators

The BC Financial Services Authority (BCFSA) is seeking input from regulated pension plan administrators and industry stakeholders on its draft Information Security Guideline for B.C. Pension Plan Administrators. This draft guideline, specific to pension plans, aims to replace an earlier guideline that applied to all sectors regulated by BCFSA.
The draft guideline addresses governance expectations related to information security and the requirement for plan administrators to develop and document an effective information security risk management program.
The guideline also provides indicators that a "material incident" has occurred and clarifies the expectation for plan administrators to communicate with BCFSA in such events.
BCFSA has created a short online survey for stakeholders to provide feedback on the draft guideline. The consultation period ends on September 6, 2024.
