Benefits Canada: ACPM's top priority for 2023 is amending, blocking passage of Bill C-228

The Association of Canadian Pension Management’s (ACPM) top priority in 2023 is ensuring that Bill C-228 does not pass — at least not without amendments, Benefits Canada reports.
The private members' bill, which is now in the Senate, would give super-priority to defined benefit pension plan members during employer bankruptcies.
A number of other organizations, including the Canadian Bankers Association, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters and the Pension Investment Association of Canada, are reportedly opposed to the bill in it’s current form as well.
