Between rising inflation and climate change, pension funds are facing increased risks — and, according to a new study, they’re taking steps to mitigate them.

Research from Ortek Finance reveals 83% of Canadian pension funds have increased their stress test budget — and 80% believe industry spending in this area, along with scenario modeling, will continue to increase over the next three years.

That said, this appears to be a precautionary measure. More than half of fund managers surveyed believe pension schemes are well-prepared to deliver yields while remaining fully funded or buy-out ready despite inflationary and climate change-related risks. And while they’re bracing for rising inflation, 60% believe their scheme is very well-hedged.
