FSRA's latest pension update includes guidance on target Benefit Plans, benchmark summary on Multi-Employer Pension Plans

The Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) released its September 2024 Pension Update, providing the following key information for members and employers:
- FSRA has released a summary report from its multi-year review of 67 Defined Benefit Multi-Employer Pension Plans, highlighting how trustees align with eight leading practices in governance, risk management, and communications.
- FSRA is creating a Supervisory Framework to help implement Ontario's permanent Target Benefit Framework, with stakeholder consultations set for Fall 2024. Draft guidance for public consultation will be released in Winter pending the Ministry of Finance finalizing regulations effective January 1, 2025.
