Ontario amends PBA with new rules for asset transfers and conversions

Ontario has amended part of the Pension Benefits Act, O. Reg. 311/15: Conversions and Transfers of Assets under Section 80.4 and Conversions under Section 81.0.1 of the Act.

This change affects conversions and asset transfers. Upon request from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario, plan administrators must provide copies of consents from members or their unions and objections from former members, retired members or other beneficiaries. 

There are also changes to related report filing deadlines.
