Ontario repeals PBA provisions

Ontario has repealed subsections 73(3) and 73(4) of the Pension Benefits Act by way of an Order in Council effective July 1, 2026.

These provisions related to the purchase of life annuities and distribution of assets of the pension fund on partial wind-up. Partial wind-ups were eliminated effective July 1, 2012.
