The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) has issued the final instruction guides for the registration of a defined benefit pension plan and the registration of a defined contribution pension plan, along with the accompanying application forms.
The instruction guides were last issued in 2012 in draft form and are intended to assist plan administrators in completing the application form for registration of a pension plan under the Pension Benefits Standards Act, 1985.
Revisions reflect the 2020 agreement with respect to multi-jurisdictional pension plans and include other updates to clarify the instructions for completing the application forms.
