OSFI's latest InfoPensions issue features updates, reminders for administrators

Canada’s Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) has published the 31st issue of its newsletter, InfoPensions.
The latest edition features updates and reminders for plan administrators, actuaries and other industry stakeholders including:
- The results of OSFI’s thematic review of selected federally regulated pension plans, which sought to examine the extent to which plan administrators adopt policies and procedures designed to control and manage investment risks.
- A summary of proposed changes to the Pension Benefits Standards Regulations, 1985 regarding solvency reserve accounts, multi-employer pension plans and publication of investment information.
- Updates regarding CAPSA’s Guideline No. 3, Guideline for Capital Accumulation Plans; and Guideline No. 10,Guideline for Risk Management for Plan Administrators.
- Revisions to OSFI’s Instruction Guide for the Preparation of Actuarial Reports for Defined Benefit Pension Plans, reflecting OSFI’s updated expectations on the maximum going concern discount rate and the new funding requirements regarding negotiated contribution plans.
