OSFI's latest InfoPension issue includes updates for administrators of federally regulated pension plans

The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions released issue 29 of InfoPensions. The new issue includes announcements and reminders on matters relevant to federally regulated pension plans, including pooled registered pension plans.

The new issue includes updates about OSFI’s initiatives, including the following:

  • OSFI’s new supervisory framework will come into effect on April 1, 2024. More information will be released in February of 2024.
  • OSFI is currently reviewing stakeholder comments on its draft advisory, Technology and Cyber Security Incident Reporting.
  • OSFI sent surveys to plan administrators of large federally-regulated pension plans to understand these plans’ exposures to leverage and associated liquidity risks in October of 2022 and April of 2023. OSFI shared the results of the surveys, and will keep stakeholders informed of any next steps.
