A year after the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan slashed its exposure to bonds, it’s increasing its exposure from 14% to 18%.
The $243 billion fund isn’t an anomaly. A growing number of investors are also returning to bonds, including Citigroup Inc. and JPMorgan Asset Management. The funds are motivated by the bond market’s attractive valuations and growing anticipation around an economic downturn. That said, with the Federal Reserve’s resolve to tame inflation, the bond market is still a bit of a gamble.
