"Pension Funds and Sustainable Investment: Challenges and Opportunities”, a new publication produced by the Pension Research Council, considers the history, current practices, and future prospects of ESG investment in the pension industry.

The book considers the following themes:

  • Responding to market failures: considering the balance between financial returns and social impact.
  • A historical perspective: this section addresses the historical development of ESG, and the transition to the “modern ESG era”.
  • Addressing practical challenges: considering the practical challenges involved in operationalizing an ESG-guided investment strategy
