A black alarm clock

Ontario’s Bill 91, also known as the Less Red Tape, Stronger Economy Act, 2023, has passed second reading and is currently under consideration by the Standing Committee on Justice Policy. The Bill is a set of proposed legislative changes across ten ministries to help speed up governmental processes.

Under Bill 91, proposed changes to section 30.1 of the Pension Benefits Act would remove the obligation for pension plan administrators to send reminder notices to retired members about communication forms. This would allow administrators who already send electronic communications to continue doing so without an additional reminder. However, plan members can still request documents in a written form other than electronic at any time.
