Quebec government introduces Bill 80, An Act respecting the implementation of certain provisions of the Budget Speech of 12 March 2024 and amending other provisions

On November 7, the Quebec provincial government introduced Bill 80, An Act respecting the implementation of certain provisions of the Budget Speech of 12 March 2024 and amending other provisions for first reading. Bill 80 includes amendments to several pension-related laws. If passed, the bill would make the following changes:
- The Bill would, among other changes, amend the Quebec Pension Plan to eliminate the pension reduction for persons over 65 who were beneficiaries of a disability pension between the ages of 60 and 65 or qualified for a disability pension during that period, effective January 1, 2025.
- The Bill would amend both the Supplemental Pension Plans Act and the Voluntary Retirement Savings Plans Act to add additional requirements regarding variable payment life pensions.
