Quebec issues Order in Council 1535-2024, updating exemptions for certain pension plans under the Supplemental Pension Plans Act

Quebec has issued Order in Council 1535-2024, amending the Regulation respecting the exemption of certain categories of pension plans from the application of provisions of the Supplemental Pension Plans Act.
The changes include amending the rules that govern when an employer may serve as the pension committee, providing an exemption for plans with fewer than $5 million in assets from the requirement to prepare an audited financial report, updating provisions regarding flexible pension plans, and harmonizing provisions relating to member-funded pension plans with the Supplemental Pension Plans Act and related regulations.
