Max maintains a broad practice covering all aspects of pension, benefits and executive compensation law. He provides advice to public and private sector clients on pension plan design, administration, compliance, funding and governance.

Prior to joining BMKP Law, Max completed his articles at a large national law firm where he assisted clients in navigating the complexities of numerous regulatory compliance mandates, corporate transactions, and civil litigation matters.

Representative Work

• Acts as counsel to private sector employers in respect of pension, retirement and savings plans, including plan design, governance, regulatory compliance and ongoing administration
• Advises pension plan sponsors on entitlement to surplus assets following plan wind-up, including interpretation of historical plan documentation and navigation of applicable legal frameworks
• Communicates with pension supervisory authorities on behalf of clients in connection with annual regulatory filings, plan amendments and other compliance matters
• Provides advice on employment and human rights considerations in the administration of group benefit plans
